In the series, written by Joe Barton, Will Sharp will embody the character of one of the greatest musical virtuosos of all time, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It will be a partial remake of Milos Forman’s 1984 film Amadeus, which itself is an adaptation of Peter Shaffer’s 1979 play of the same name. The film won eight Oscars at the time, including Best Picture.
In the story, 25-year-old Mozart comes to study in bustling 18th-century Vienna. Left without a job and without his father’s control, he finds an ally in the young singer Constance, who becomes his wife. Her connections help the young genius into the orbit of court composer Antonio Salieri, leading to a fateful collision that will define their lives and legacies for years to come.
